Ordering Your Kit
How do I get my dress to you for cleaning and preservation?

It's easy! Simply order your kit from our website, www.weddinggownpreservationkit.com and we'll send you our patented preservation box to your door step for the 2-way, insured trip to our facility. The box is thick walled, crush proof and also contains our preservation bag to keep your dress dry and safe during the shipping process.

Can I order my Kit with one address and have my finished gown shipped to another?

Sure! Our online ordering system has the ability to choose a different shipping address from the address you use for billing. We'll even provide a note to the recipient if you add your message to the "comments" field while checking out.

Can I order my Kit using a PO Box?

No. To ensure the safety of your gown, we cannot ship to a PO Box.

Should I order the Traditional Kit or Celebrity Kit?

The Celebrity Kit is specifically designed for more expensive designer dresses and is recommended for silk or couture gowns. The Celebrity Kit has a silver embossed presentation box and also features hand pressing instead of steam pressing and the included shipping insurance is valued at $2,000 rather than the $500 of the Traditional Kit.

Can I add additional shipping insurance to my Kit?

When you receive your Kit you'll find paperwork inside that will allow you to add any extra amount of insurance in the included paperwork which will be in addition to the included insurance that comes with your order ($500 for the Traditional Kit and $2,000 for the Celebrity Kit). Extra insurance is $3.00 for each $100 of extra insurance you'd like to add.

When is the best time to order my Kit?

While we can restore gowns that are 100+ years old, the absolute best time to order your Preservation Kit is when (or soon after) you purchase your wedding dress. Ordering your kit early is the best way to ensure this important item is checked off your wedding "to-do" list and the best way to treat yourself to a stress free day without having to worry about dirt, grass, food, or sweat stains that will inevitably occur during your reception. Your kit never expires so it doesn't matter if you order your preservation kit one month before your wedding day, or one year.

Can I return my Kit if I decide not to use it?

Of course! If you purchased your Preservation Kit as a gift or for yourself and you or the recipient end up not using it, you can contact us to let us know and you will receive a 100% refund on your order. There is no need to return the box or its contents, however, the order number will be de-activated from our system making it unavailable to use in the future. It's that easy!

How long will it take to get the shipping box once I place my order on your website?

The shipping box will arrive at your home in 5-7 days after you place your order on our website.

How do I know my gown will be safe during the shipping process?

We've taken every step available to make sure your gown is safe and secure as it is shipped to our facility and back to your home. With advancements in UPS shipping technology, you'll be able to track your dress every step of the way and you will even be updated with an internal tracking systems once your gown arrives at the preservation facility. Just for that extra protection, both kits come with shipping insurance from the shipping carriers. The finished kit requires a signature from a resident of your home and each kit comes with shipping insurance included to keep your mind at ease. Has a wedding gown ever been lost during the shipping process?

The Cleaning & Preservation Process
Is the cleaning process different between the Traditional Kit and the Celebrity Kit?

No, both packages receive the same amount of care when it comes to the spot cleaning and dry cleaning process. With our Celebrity Kit, your wedding gown is hand pressed rather than steam pressed before it is placed in the preservation chest.

Do you outsource any part of the cleaning or preservation process?

Absolutely not. The entire process is completed in-house and your gown remains safe in our care the entire time.

How is my gown tracked once it arrives at your preservation facility?

Your dress will receive its own unique tracking barcode which allows us to track the progress of your gown as it makes its way through each preservation station at our facility. This information is linked online with our GownTracker™ system to allow you to track the progress of your gown 24/7.

Can I have my dress simply cleaned and not preserved?

Our Clean-only Kit is perfect if you have a dress you plan on wearing again soon or if you plan to sell your gown to another bride.

What happens to my dress during the cleaning process?

During the dress cleaning process your gown will be rotated around our racking system to "preservation stations" where each station focuses solely on one aspect of the cleaning process. A few of the stations are gentle dry cleaning, spot removal, pressing, hemming, beading and more. Your dress is preserved using age old family formulas passed down through the generations. After the cleaning process is completed, your gown is placed in our acid free preservation paper and formed around a bust to maintain the gown's shape over time. During the final step your gown is sealed in our preservation chest, placed in a heavy, crush-proof shipping box, and sent out for the return trip to your doorstep.

Will the treatments you use to clean my dress harm the fabric?

What type of stains are you able to remove from my dress?

We are able to remove 95% of stains found on the gowns we process. The types of stains we're successful at removing include

  • Ink and more

If your wedding dress has a difficult, set-in stain, a three step deep cleaning process will be used to treat and remove the stain. In the rare event a stain cannot be removed, and it is determined that further treatment could damage the delicate fibers of your gown, a stain letter will be sent with your preserved gown explaining why the stain wasn't further processed.

What type of repairs are you able to perform on my gown?

We have an expert, in-house staff of tailors and seamstress experts that can repair your gown for a very small fee. If we find damage on your gown we will contact you with the option to repair the damage and a cost to do so. If you know ahead of time that dress was damaged then please specify on your paperwork ahead of time.

What accessories can I include to be preserved with my cleaning and preservation?

5 complimentary items can be included to be preserved with your wedding dress. These can include gloves, veil, train, hat, jacket, shawl, handkerchief, cape, duster, garter, ring pillow, money bag, purse, and garter or for our Christening Kit, veil, socks, booties, bibs, robes, bonnets, slips, rattle and more. In the event that you have more than 5 items that you'd like preserved, you'll be charged $10 for each additional item which you can include by check when you ship your gown to us. We also offer preservation for shoes, slip, and a silk bouquet for an extra $25 each.

Can you preserve colored gowns?

Absolutely. We take great care in maintaining the vibrancy and integrity of wedding gowns comprised of dyed fabrics. <

How long does it take for the entire process from when I send in my gown until I receive it at my home?

The process will take between 3-10 weeks from the day you order your kit depending on the size of your gown and the amount of work that needs to be done. The actual preservation process takes around 20 days in our facility unless you are ordering Rush Processing.

Can you bleach my wedding gown to white?

No. More damage can be done to your gown by bleaching it and the bleaching process is far too harsh on the delicate fabrics found in most wedding gowns.

Preservation Kit Chest & Packaging
What is the Preservation Chest made out of?

The preservation box is made of PH neutral, acid-free, heavy duty corrugated cardboard coated in a UV resistant sealant. The preservation window is also UV resistant.

Can I get a silver colored box but a traditional service on my dress?

Yes, when you receive your initial shipping box and paperwork you'll be able to choose to upgrade your container from white to silver for an additional fee. You can include a personal check or visit the website to pay the additional fee.

What size is the Preservation Chest and will it fit my wedding gown?

All wedding dresses are of varying sizes and so are our preservation boxes. Depending on the size of your dress and your accessories, we have a standard, large and extra-large box size.

100 Year Warranty
What does the 100-year warranty cover?

Our exclusive 100 year warranty protects your gown against yellowing for up to 100 years from the day it's preserved. If you feel your gown has at all yellowed or stained during that time, we'll preserve it again at no extra charge.

Will it void the warranty if I open the box to examine my gown and reseal it?

No, if you open your box your warranty will still be valid. We include "sealing squares" which you can use to reseal the seams of your Preservation Chest in the event you need to open it. However, we ask that you do not take your gown completely out of the Preservation Chest as the chance of environmental contaminants, such as oil from your skin, will yellow your gown and void your 100 year warranty. You are more than welcome to inspect the hemline of your dress, which is typically the most dirty and stained fabric on your wedding gown.
